Prayerful Foundation:

Jesus said:
  • “Without me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)
  • “Pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." (Matthew 9:38; Luke 10:2)
  • “My house shall be called a house of prayer.” (Matthew 21:13)
  • “Whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith." (Matthew 21:22)

At CrossRoads, we understand that God instituted prayer as not only a means of communication between Himself and His created ones, but also as a means of accomplishing His original purpose on earth as it is in heaven.  In other words, if we fail to pray, if we fail to agree with God for what He desires to move on earth, we miss out on some major blessings from Him!

Worship:
"Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship." Romans 12:1 (NASB)

We believe that worship is not just a worship service (all together) activity.  And It may look different for every individual but one thing is constant, God asks us to do it.  For more, please click here.
Evangelism is a fancy word for “sharing our faith in Christ with others.”  Jesus commanded that His followers go out and “make disciples.”  In order to obey Christ in this command, we must first share the Gospel – the good news of Jesus Christ – to this world.  If we fail to share our faith, we have none to therefore raise up in the faith.

Making Disciples is quite frankly one of the areas the local church fails to do well.  Paul admonished a few churches in his New Testament letters for failing to move beyond “milk and soft food” and into the “meat” of the gospel (1 Cor. 3:2; Heb. 5:13-14).  His point was that as we grow in Christ, there must be a measure of evidence.  There must be fruit from our labor.  There must be maturity, just as when we grow physically.

Ministry and Service are words that can be easy to say, but inconvenient to practice.  You know what we mean – it’s a belief system that Christians are called to minister and serve others, but until it becomes a value system (putting feet to your belief), it simple remains a “good idea.”

CrossRoads Church is blessed with men and women, boys and girls who know the Holy Spirit has blessed them with spiritual gifts such as service and/or helps; healing ministry; hospitality; mercy; discernment; etc.  All these gifts are given by the Holy Spirit to the body for two  specific reasons:
  • For the purpose of what the Bible calls “edification” of the body, and
  • For the glorification of Almighty God

Relationships/Fellowship:
People can have all kinds of relationships in their lives.  Some are built around family, some around work, some around neighbors… you get the idea.  In the church, relationships often come naturally, and don’t have to be “taught” in terms of initial start-up.  The hard part comes when our feelings get hurt, or someone does something we disagree with, or when a “friend” does something quite “unfriendly”!

No church is exempt from broken relationships. Though CrossRoads has many “success stories,” we also have waded through our share of “real life”.  The temptation to run from confrontation can be strong, but not Biblical.  God desires that we be “family,” and nobody needs to be reminded that families can be very “real” with one another!

Humble Elder Leadership:
The Holy Spirit appointed overseers (usually translated “elders”) in every church.
  • Acts 14:23 says, “And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.”
  • In the book of Titus, Paul admonishes Titus to “appoint elders in every town.”
  • We place the word “humble” before “elder leadership” for a variety of reasons:  First, elders are not “bosses,” but are called by God to lead by example.  Second, they are “overseers” providing spiritual guidance, protection, and care.  And Biblical elders are men of prayer, knowing that the church belongs to Jesus, not to them.
